Ceremonies of huachuma (San Pedro) and Ayahuasca in Machu Picchu and Sacsayhuaman. Many of the Incas, knowing the sacred power plants and discovering their mysterious properties, became mystics. They used them for personal growth and organization of their people. The rulers of the empire performed Ayahuasca Ceremonies Huachuma (San Pedro) and Andean ceremonies in sacred places such as Machu Picchu, Sacsayhuaman, Temple of the Moon, Chincheros, etc. Today we continue practicing them. They worked with their ancestors and used the energy of body, mind and spirit. In the 800 a. D. approximately, Manco Capac was the first Inca that took the medicines Ayahuasca and Wachuma; over time they mastered them, followed by their successors in Cusco. The organization, the growth and the territorial expansion of the Inca empire were a direct result of the power of the sacred plants and the knowledge of priests. Ayahuasca at first was taken by the elite of Inca society and by the wise lovers of their heavenly Gods, the most important of them known as Viracocha (his body represents Mother Earth and his Spirit represents the universe).
